Rights and Permissions

The Literary Estate of May Swenson owns the copyrights to May Swenson’s poems, currently with the exception of those that appear in Complete Love Poems of May Swenson (Houghton Mifflin). 

All published and unpublished writings, including prose works, belong to The Literary Estate of May Swenson and are protected under U.S. copyright law.

For permission to quote from or to reproduce any of these works, in English or in translation, in whole or in part, in any form or by any means (including print, electronic, mechanical, photocopying, recording, or otherwise), you must contact The Literary Estate of May Swenson with a request, in writing, that contains the following information:

1.  The title of the Swenson work to be used, whole or excerpted
2.  Planned use of the work, including title of the piece, number of copies to be made, planned distribution and intended audience, and estimated date of publication.
3.  Which specific countries or geographic regions you are seeking distribution rights (i.e., United States, North America, World English rights, World rights).

Please allow sufficient time for processing your request. 
Upon granting of permission, applicant will receive proper credit line to be used.  This credit notice must appear as specified in the final work.
